Have you ever seen someone jump out of a plane waving a Canadian flag before?
This weekend, the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) in Esquimalt will be hosting Defence at the Dock, a free open-house style event where people can get a first-hand look at rad military vehicles and assets, and watch a performance of the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team, the SkyHawks.
Defence at the Dock is a fun, family-friendly event that will give visitors a chance to see military assets both old and new, like a submarine, a Canadian Patrol Frigate, a Maritime Coastal Defense Vehicle, a Cyclone helicopter, and artillery.
The event will also feature hands on displays, CFB search and rescue demos, and rides on a military Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat.
“Open houses provide the public an opportunity to interact with the CAF close up, demonstrate transparency to taxpayers, create goodwill with the community and encourages visitors to learn about and celebrate the work of their Defence Team,” said Base Commander Jason Boyd.

The SkyHawks is Canada’s only military parachute demonstration team. In their displays, the team performs Canopy Relative Work, which are aerial displays that require both skill and nerve.
The SkyHawks are made up of members from various military fields, and will land in Beacon Hill Park at 2:45 p.m.
