North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service have launched an investigation after human remains were found in a Duncan cornfield on Wednesday.
Officers were called to a dike near York Road around noon, after the remains were discovered and reported.
Police have confirmed that the remains are human, and the B.C. Coroners Service is helping to determine the identity and cause of death.
RCMP have confirmed that the remains do not belong to Ben Kilmer, a missing person from the Cowichan area.
Police say it is too early in the investigation to determine any criminality or foul play in the person’s death.
