RCMP warns Sidney residents to lock car doors after another rash of car break-ins

Share

RCMP have issued a reminder to Sidney residents to lock their car doors and to put any valuables in their vehicle out of sight.

“Is this beginning to sound like a broken record?” asks the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP in their news release.

This reminder is almost identical to ones issued in May, and in November, and in February.

The announcement was prompted after several incidents were reported in the Sidney/North Saanich area.

The calls came from over 15 individuals.

“Leaving vehicles unlocked, filled with items that can easily be stolen, is an invitation to thieves to come to the north peninsula and cause havoc,” said Commander Staff Sergeant Wayne Conley.

If you have been the victim of a similar crime, or have any information, police ask that you call the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP Detachment. If you’d like to remain anonymous you can contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
