Police are seeking a suspect who stole a coat from a visually impaired man in downtown Victoria.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Douglas and Fort streets at 12:45 pm on Saturday.
According to a press release from VicPD, the suspect was riding by on his bicycle when he stole a coat from the arms of a 71-year-old visually impaired man, and then sped away.
The coat is described as a 3/4 length burgundy Lands’ End brand raincoat with a sheepskin collar and several pockets. Officers are canvassing the area for surveillance video and witnesses.
The coat contained the man’s monocular in its pocket – a device that helps him see. It was also a gift from his late wife.
