Environment Canada issues wind warning for east Vancouver Island

Share

A wind warning is in effect for parts of east Vancouver Island as of Saturday afternoon.

According to Environment Canada, the areas listed can expect near 70 km/h southeasterly winds due to a strong Pacific low pressure system.

The exposed coastal areas are expected to experience these gusts this evening and after midnight, into Sunday morning.

Authorities advise people that these high winds may toss loose objects and cause tree branches to break.

The warning is in effect for:

  • East Vancouver Island – Courtenay to Campbell River
  • East Vancouver Island – Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay
