Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who was involved in an attempted robbery with a weapon in Duncan Wednesday night.

The incident took place at about 8:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 200 block of Evans Street.

Police say a male suspect approached two individuals who were sitting in a parked vehicle, and threatened them with a weapon, demanding cash or drugs.

At that point, the driver of the vehicle quickly reversed the car, spooking the suspect and sending him running to a nearby dark-coloured pick-up truck.

The truck is described as dark in colour with license plates that start with MR. It is possibly a Dodge Ram with a lift kit and chrome on the back

The suspect is described as an approximately 30-year-old Caucasian male, standing roughly 5’ 10” and weighing 170 pounds with a slim build.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, and dark coloured pants or jeans. He was also wearing a white face covering with red on the mouth area, possibly depicting an animated mouth with blood.

If you have information police are asking that you call North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
