The Sooke School District sent out a letter Friday warning parents of a possible attempted child abduction that took place Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. near Western Speedway in Langford.
West Shore RCMP advised the school district that a man in a black vehicle approached a 12-year-old girl. No other details were provided by the police.
According to online reports, a stranger yelled at her to get in his vehicle and then tried to corner her, but she was able to run to safety and contact the RCMP.
The suspect is described as a balding man driving a black SUV, and was seen on Bellamy Rd in Thetis Heights.
