Starbucks unveils new ‘Witch’s Brew Frappuccino’ for Halloween

Share

“A pinch of toad’s breath. A dash of bat warts. A sprinkle of lizard scale…” That’s how Starbucks describes its new and spooky Halloween themed drink.

The alchemical concoction is a mixture of orange crème Frappuccino (made purple from the toad’s breath), green chia-seed swirls (bat warts) and vanilla whipped cream dusted with green toppings (lizard scales).

“We wanted to create a flavor that you might enjoy at a Halloween party,” said Jennica Robinson, a member of the Starbucks beverage development team in a press release. “It gets a little bit of juicy-ness from the orange flavor.”

Halloween-themed drinks have become something of a tradition for the Seattle-based coffee giant.

In 2014, the company unrolled their Franken Frappuccino blended beverage for the spooky season, and in 2015 and 2016 they released the Frappula Frappuccino amidst their pumpkin-spiced lineup. Last year, it was the spooky Zombie Frappuccino, and this year, Starbucks promises the Witch’s Brew Frappuccino will be a little more zesty.

“Starbucks loves to celebrate Halloween, and each year our Frappuccino brings something different to the season,” said Robinson. “We started with Frappula, which was inspired by an old-school horror movie. Zombie Frappuccino was like the walking dead, a little ghastly. Witch’s Brew is very fun, vibrant, bubbly, the life of the party.”

Don’t miss your chance to try the seasonal drink and indulge in your inner witch.
