The first of 3 FREE cannabis educational seminars in Victoria is this Thursday

Share

With legalization coming up on October 17th, cannabis is on the tip of everyone’s tongue – figuratively (and maybe literally, we’re not judging).

Whether you’re a newcomer to the industry wanting to learn what cannabis can do for you, or you have some experience but want to know more about what the province’s new regulations are going to look like, this is one event you can’t miss.

Trees – Island Grown – a local craft cannabis retailer – is hosting the first of their three FREE educational seminars, titled ‘Higher Learning’, at their flagship location on Yates Street this Thursday, October 4th.

The who’s who

For their first seminar, Trees is bringing in three industry experts:

  • Sarah Lovegrove (RN, BscN, BA, MA)
  • Andrew McLachlan of McLachlan Farms, Canada’s first not-for-profit medical cannabis farm
  • Doug Clarke, Trees – Island Grown’s medical cannabis subsidy officer.

Discussion at the event will focus on the effects of cannabis, what to ask your cannabis server when shopping for different products, cannabis culture, what BC’s new regulations will look like in Victoria, and some of the changes across Canada.

Consulting an expert

Victoria Buzz spoke to Andrew McLachlan, who worked on his family’s farm in Saskatchewan for over 10 years before moving to Victoria and sharing his expertise with dispensaries, businesses, organizations, and even the provincial government.

At the panel, McLachlan will not only be addressing specific questions about cannabis use and culture, but he will also talk about provincial regulations in detail, specifically speaking to which measures are necessary and which ones leave room for improvement.

“Cannabis is a tool or supplement to enhance individuals lives if it is right for them,” says McLachlan.

“Everyone is different so it might not be right for everyone and if you have an experience that might have turned you away from cannabis, I think you need to maybe experiment and try a lower dose or a different product.”

Discover what’s right for you

There will be a no holds barred Q&A session after the discussion, allowing the audience an opportunity to have their questions and concerns addressed.

At the end of the event, you will walk away with valuable information about how cannabis works with your body, the physical and mental effects, and most importantly; what is right for you.

And this is just the start – stay tuned for our posts about Trees – Island Grown’s second and third seminars also taking place this month.
