Lock those doors tight, Victoria!

According to Environment Canada, potentially damaging winds will be sweeping across the city today.

The weather agency warns that gusts can toss loose objects or break tree branches, as well as damage soft shelters, tents, and awnings at outdoor events.

The cause of the winds is a Pacific frontal system crossing over Vancouver Island, and while strong southeast winds of 70 km/h are predicted, they are expected to ease up by the end of the day.

Wind warnings have also been issued for North and West Vancouver Island. Winds are expected to be stronger there, with gusts reaching 90 km/h for these island communities.

Besides the wind, Victorians should prepare for some wet weather, with nothing but rain in the forecast for the next week.

Stay warm out there, everyone!
