On Thursday, a 22-year-old Central Saanich man was sentenced to jail time after pleading guilty to various child sexploitation charges back in December.

Police started to investigate the then 19-year-old Seamus Weeks in November 2015, after several teenage girls came forward with allegations of multiple online sex offences.

While investigating, officers found that Weeks was indeed connected to various online aliases which he used to threaten and/or blackmail teenage girls into providing sexually explicit images over social media.

In total, Weeks plead guilty to ten charges back in 2017, including possession of child pornography, luring persons under 18 by telecommunication, invitation to sexual touching under 16 years old, uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death, criminal harassment, and extortion.

For his crimes, he has been sentenced to 18 months in jail followed by a 6 month conditional sentence order and three years on probation. He will also be added to the national sex offender registry for the rest of his life.

The girls who stepped forward to report Weeks’ crimes lived in the Greater Victoria area, Kamloops, and the United States.
