Talk about an expensive lesson!

Nanaimo RCMP have recently issued a $483 fine to a motorist driving well beyond the speed limit on Hwy 19 at Ware Rd.

The driver was nabbed on Thursday, November 8th by RCMP Municipal Traffic Services who were conducting speed monitoring on the highway.

The speed limit for that particular section of highway is 80 km/h, and the motorist was clocked in at 143 km/h.

In addition to the fine and associated points, his vehicle was impounded for at least 7 days.

“Drivers are reminded to obey the posted speed limit on all roads, especially as winter approaches with shorter hours of daylight and potentially poorer road conditions,” reads a press release from RCMP.
