Share

Victoria City Hall has been cleared after the block was closed between Pandora, Douglas and Government following a second bomb scare Tuesday.

Victoria police were called to the area just before 10:00 p.m. after somebody located a suspicious package. Numerous officers attended and out of an abundance of caution, coordinated off the area around Centennial Square and City Hall.

VicPD Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) members attended and were able to deem that the suspicious item was not a threat.

In a release, police said their investigation into this incident, and the previous incident at the Victoria Courthouse continues.

Anyone with information is asked to contact VicPD at (250) 995-7654 or Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police have evacuated and locked down Victoria City Hall following what appears to be the second bomb threat of the day in the city.

VicPD evacuated City Hall and closed the surrounding area of Douglas, Pandora, Government, and Fisgard Streets shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

Officers are dealing with what appears to be dynamite with a timer attached to it, placed on the Pandora side of City Hall. A bomb tech is en route with a robot.

Earlier today, Victoria Police evacuated and searched the Victoria Law Courts on Burdett Avenue following a bomb threat that turned out to unsubstantiated.

Victoria Buzz has reached out to VicPD for further details and confirmation about tonight’s incident.

More to come.
