Share

Several BC Ferries vessels are operating behind schedule due to current severe weather conditions.

The Spirit of British Columbia vessel was held in dock at Swartz Bay for an additional hour and was set to depart for Tsawwassen terminal at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

According to a 12:20 p.m. update from BC Ferries, the following sailings have been cancelled for the vessel:

  • 11:00 am departing Tsawwassen
  • 1:00 pm departing Swartz Bay

Additionally, the Salish Raven vessel slated to travel from Comox (Little River) to Powell River (Westview) was also held in dock as of 9:45 a.m. this morning due to adverse weather conditions.

As of 10:50 a.m., BC Ferries announced that the  9:55 a.m. ferry departing Comox and the 11:50 a.m. departing Powell River have both been cancelled because of high winds.

The Salish Orca between Swartz Bay and the Southern Gulf Islands is also operating 30 minutes behind schedule due to extreme high tidal conditions earlier in the day.

All three BC Ferries service notices expressed that the company would resume services as soon as it is safe to do so.
