Environment Canada issues warning of wet snow and freezing rain for inland and east Vancouver Island

Share

Despite the sunshine, it’s been chilly around Vancouver Island.

Early Friday morning, Environment Canada issued special weather alerts for East and Inland Vancouver Island.

The special weather statements warn of wet snow and a risk of freezing rain in both regions, expected to hit Friday night and Saturday morning.

The weather agency says that a “weak weather system” is sweeping from the Pacific over Vancouver Island, and that winds near the coast of the Strait of Georgia are expected to increase tonight.

For areas that are more inland, Environment Canada says that residents can expect wet snow with a few centimeters of snowfall overnight.
