A fundraiser for the family of a Sooke man who died in an accident last week has raised $9,000 more than its initial goal.

On the morning of December 17th, Cam Sullivan died in an accident involving a fallen tree at his workplace at Eaglecrest Drive in Sooke.

His brother, Brandon Sullivan, told Victoria Buzz that 29-year-old Cam is survived by his 2 year old daughter, a girlfriend of many years, and three brothers. “He touched many people and was always there to offer a helping hand,” said Brandon.

The GoFundMe campaign set up by his friend, Angus Danielson, had an initial goal of raising $10,000 but within 7 days, well-wishers have donated $19,300 as of the time of publication.

“Cam was kind, spontaneous, brilliant, funny and always put his family first. He had a smile that was contagious and could light up a room,” reads the campaign description.

Danielson also wrote about Cam’s love of the outdoors and for his family and friends.

A public celebration of life for Cam Sullivan will be held at the Sooke Community Hall on Saturday, December 29th. Those who wish to pay their respects to Cam or his family are welcome to attend.
