Skiers and snowboarders rejoice!

While it’s been wet down here in Victoria, it’s been snowing up at Mt Washington!

On Friday, Mount Washington Alpine Resort announced they’d be up and running starting this Saturday, December 15th.

According to the resort, the mountain has a snowbase of 40 cm, and it received 16 cm of fresh powder over the past 48 hours.

For its opening weekend, the Whiskey Jack chair lift, Easy Acres slope, and tubing lanes will all be open, with more runs opening as weather permits.

During Mt. Washington’s first week, there will also be free lessons for kids who are 13 and older!

The mountain’s ‘Discovery Program’ will run from December 15th to 21st, and teach both skiing and snowboarding.

The free lessons are designed for beginners between 13 and 18 years old who’ve never skied or boarded before. If you know any kids that have always wanted to learn, now’s the perfect chance.

It’s time to hit the slopes!
