Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance to locate a suspect who threatened to discharge a can of bear spray at a Best Buy employee.

The incident occurred at about 7 p.m. on October 23rd, at Best Buy located in the Country Club Mall in Nanaimo.

According to a press release, the suspect in question had allegedly committed criminal activities in the business on previous occasions, and was therefore being escorted out.

As he reached the exit door, he suddenly turned, took out a can of bear spray from his pocket, and pointed it at the employee.

He did not, however, discharge the bear spray, and instead ran from the store. He was last seen running through the parking lot.

The suspect is described as being possibly white, 5’8″ tall, with dark hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hat, Adidas sweater, black pants, and was carrying a backpack.

Anyone who has any information about this suspect is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and quote file # 2018-3911. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
