Vancouver Island set to experience another heavy storm on Thursday

If you thought we’re through with stormy weather for the season, think again!

Environment Canada has issued another weather alert warning for most of Vancouver Island about an incoming storm on Thursday, December 20th.

Advisories are in effect for Greater Victoria, East, West, and Inland Vancouver Island, due to a low pressure system that will intensify tonight and make landfall on the island tomorrow.

“There is good consensus among computer weather models that this intense low will move onto the coast on Thursday but details on the exact track and timing remain uncertain at this time,” reads the advisory.

The storm could potentially be destructive due to winds and heavy rainfall, depending on where the system makes landfall.

Environment Canada will be making further specific weather warnings for wind and rainfall later today.

So far in December, ongoing storms have caused numerous power outages and BC Ferries delays and cancellations.
