63-year-old pedestrian suffers injuries from hit-and-run in Nanaimo

Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a hit-and-run that left a 63-year-old woman hospitalized on Tuesday night.

At around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22nd, the victim was legally crossing the road in downtown Nanaimo at the intersection of Commercial St and Terminal Ave when she was struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses and the injured woman confirmed that the vehicle was a silver or white car which was turning left onto Terminal Ave when the driver hit her, knocked her over, and then drove away.

She suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, and was taken to the hospital by BC Paramedics.

Soon after, officers discovered an abandoned vehicle on Cliff St near Terminal Ave that fit the description of the one involved in the hit-and-run.

The grey 2009 Toyota Camry is registered to an individual who resides in the Lower Mainland. An investigation is currently ongoing.
