One of the drivers who was involved in a head-on collision on Highway 1 earlier this month has sadly passed away, according to West Shore RCMP.

The incident took place just before 12:45 p.m. on January 8th, when two SUV’s collided with each other on an undivided curve between Leigh Road and West Shore Parkway.

The drivers of both vehicles were the lone occupants and were transported to hospital with serious injuries. Police say that the other driver involved in the incident is alive and recovering.

The family of the deceased has been notified and West Shore RCMP stated that they will not be releasing their name.

“This investigation is still ongoing, however speed and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in this collision at this time,” reads a statement from the police.
