Hope you brought your umbrellas with you today, Victoria!

Environment Canada issued a weather alert this morning, warning of heavy rains across the island.

“An intense frontal system has stalled over Vancouver Island and heavy rain will continue for Greater Victoria today,” says the weather agency.

Last night, 20 to 30 mm of rainfall poured over Victoria, and now another 20 to 30 mm are expected today.

“Rain, at times heavy, is expected. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible,” warns Environment Canada.

Meanwhile, the rainfall warnings for East, Inland, and West Vancouver Island that were issued yesterday are all still in effect.

In some of the areas, the stalled frontal system could drop as much as 100 mm of rain in the region.
