Police looking to identify man who attacked a BC Transit driver in North Saanich (UPDATED)

The Sidney/North Saanich RCMP are thanking the public for helping catch a suspect who assaulted a BC Transit driver on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 7:00 a.m., and with the help of the public the man was identified and arrested later in the evening.

The North Saanich man was taken into custody and later released on conditions, including a ban from using any BC Transit bus.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who physically assaulted a BC Transit bus driver Tuesday morning.

At roughly 7:00 a.m., police were called to a “serious assault” against a bus driver near Lochside Drive and Bakerview Place in North Saanich. When officers arrived, they found that the bus driver had suffered injuries to his face.

The male suspect reportedly fled the bus on foot with a duffle bag following the attack. According to police, the man is known to use the same BC Transit route daily.

After the incident, the bus driver was transported to hospital by ambulance, where he remains for treatment.

The suspect is described as having dark hair, a mustache or goatee, and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a checkered coat and white undershirt.
