Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store while brandishing a handgun on Sunday night.

In a release, Nanaimo RCMP said a hooded man entered the Northridge Gas and Go at Turner Road and Uplands Drive at approximately 8 p.m., and shortly after arriving he drew a concealed pistol and demanded all of the cash form the register.

The clerk then handed him an undisclosed amount of money before he left on foot.

No employees were injured during the incident.

After the robbery, multiple officers and a Nanaimo RCMP K9 tracked the suspect’s trail from the convenience store to Highway 19A and Oliver Road before it eventually went cold.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male who is 30 – 40 years old. He has a slim build, and at the time was wearing a dark hoodie, a dark toque, gloves, and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the robbery is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345, or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
