Popular “dive bar” opening in downtown Victoria this Fall

Share

Leopold’s Tavern, a popular west Canada bar, is coming to Victoria this fall.

A self-described neighbourhood “dive bar”, Leopold’s Tavern offers a casual, welcoming, and tasty option for people seeking an unpretentious drink or some quality comfort food.

Leopold’s Victoria location is set to open on downtown’s Yates street, where Sitka was formerly located, and where the Steamers Pub used to reside.

“We’re super excited to be a part of the vibrant Victoria community!” Leopold’s
co-founder Michael Ash told Victoria Buzz.

Leopold’s Tavern first started as a hole in the wall in downtown Regina, SK, before growing quickly to ten locations across Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba.

The Leopold’s website calls the theme of their tavern a “classic jukebox dive bar atmosphere” that is to be “enjoyed by friends, community members, strangers, and the unaccustomed alike.”

The original location included the pictures, items, and memories of customers who stepped through bar’s front doors.

“It didn’t take long to realize that these items weren’t junk but rather a collection of memories, experiences, the odd accomplishment, some jokes, some tears, all strewn up among the walls and ceilings for the customers to enjoy in their local pub,” reads the history of Leopold’s Tavern.

“A story held in each item.”

Keep a lookout for Leopold’s Tavern this fall!
