The Sidney/North Saanich RCMP have been able to identify and arrest a suspect who assaulted a BC Transit driver on Tuesday with help from the public.

At roughly 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday monring, police were called to a “serious assault” against a bus driver near Lochside Drive and Bakerview Place in North Saanich.
When officers arrived, they found that the bus driver had suffered injuries to his face. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
The male suspect who assaulted the transit operator reportedly fled the bus on foot with a duffel bag following the attack.
Later on Tuesday evening the assailant was found and taken into custody, and later released on conditions, including a ban from using any BC Transit bus.
