West Shore RCMP have concluded that the mysterious package is not dangerous and are beginning to reopen roads in the area.

Earlier:

West Shore RCMP are investigating a suspicious package spotted by a woman on Jacklin Road near Ruth King Elementary School in Langford early Thursday morning.

According to the woman, the package appeared to resemble a suitcase with wires visibly sticking out of it.

The mysterious package was discovered at a bus shelter just off school grounds, and police have shut down roads in the area.

West Shore RCMP say they have created a ‘safe zone’ in the area and are asking the public to keep back as they determine the nature of the package.

An RCMP Explosives Device Unit has also been called in to assist with the investigation.

Police say that the elementary school is safe, and is outside their established safe zone.
