A free industry-leading mental health app has officially launched today, on Bell’s Let’s Talk Day, and was founded on the island by a local Victoria woman, Ania Wysocka.

According to Wysocka, Rootd is designed to help manage panic attacks and support anxiety relief. Some of Rootd’s features include lessons on how to understand anxiety and panic attacks, a panic button, a deep breathing tool, guided and active meditation, soothing nature sounds, and more.

Also, the app lets you track your progress to help celebrate your mental health successes along the way.

“Rootd’s approachable and fun design helps people feel comfortable having the app open on their screen any time or place they feel they need to use it,” said Wysocka in a release.

“We hope that normalizing our interactions with these type of resources will help reduce stigma.”

Rootd is currently ranked the #1 best panic attack and anxiety relief app on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Used world wide

In 2017, Rootd pre-launched on World Mental Health Day, and since then the app has received several significant upgrades based on feedback by its users.

The app now has over 50,000 downloads by people in over 100 countries.

“I love reading messages and reviews from users and working out how we can incorporate feedback into the app to make it even better,” said Wysocka.

“The need for a tool like Rootd has been validated through the number of downloads, and hearing positive feedback from users around the world shows that it’s capable of working and making a difference in users’ lives.”

Bell Let’s Talk Day

First started in 2010, Bell Let’s Talk Day is an annual advocacy program that aims to encourage conversation about mental illness in an attempt to reduce the social stigma that can be attached to it.

Users on social media can help donate to mental health initiatives by using the hashtag #BellLetsTalk on Twitter or by watching the official video on Facebook or Instagram on Wednesday, January 30th.

For every video watched or hashtag used, Bell will donate 5¢ to a mental health service.

According to Rootd, anxiety is the most common mental health issue in North America, affecting roughly 1 in every 5 adults.

Rootd is available for free worldwide for both iOS and Android devices.
