WestJet flight 173 from Edmonton to Victoria on Friday was cancelled after an unsuccessful takeoff attempt on the icy runway caused the plane to slide off the runway.
The flight, which was scheduled to take off at around 6 p.m., was carrying 77 guests plus crew to Victoria.
In a tweet on Friday evening, WestJet stated that none of the people on the flight were injured, and everyone was “deplaned via bridge stairs and taken to the terminal via bus”.
55 passengers were rebooked to a different flight that would bring them to Victoria via Calgary on Friday night, with the remaining 22 being rebooked on Saturday morning.
