This February, ring in the Year of the Pig with the proper pomp and circumstance at a gala that will take you back to Shanghai’s golden era.
The Victoria Dragon Boat Festival Society is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary by throwing the most fabulous Chinese New Year party in the city – and they want to give away a pair of free tickets to one lucky Victoria Buzz reader!
This annual event doubles as a fundraiser to help the Society raise money in support of community dragon boat programs, festivals, and youth development.
Titled ‘Meet Me in Shanghai’, the evening promises to encompass all the glitz and glam of the city formerly nicknamed the “Paris of the Orient”, in the comfort of the 21st century.
On February 9th, the Arbutus Ball Room at the Delta Ocean Point Resort will be transformed to reflect the opulence of 1930s Shanghai, and will feature live jazz, dancing, fine fashion, traditional street-style dining and cocktails, and a gambling den.
Dress to the nines in your finest Qipao or best suit and hat and indulge in an evening full of surprises (hint: you probably won’t go home empty-handed!).
