UPDATE: Highway 1 just north of the Leigh Road has was shut down for several hours, but opened back up at 6 p.m. following a head-on collision.

The Trans Canada Highway is closed in both directions at Leigh Road in Langford following a two vehicle head-on collision.
The collision occurred shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday and has result in serious life-threatening injuries.
Traffic Reconstructionist along with the West Shore RCMP Traffic Unit are working to determine the cause of the collision.
Please be patient with emergency crews as they work at this location.
A detour through West Shore Parkway is available.
Expect heavy delays in the area and avoid if possible
