Calling all vegan and vegetarian foodies!
One of Victoria’s favourite Mexican eateries, Quesada Burritos & Tacos, has just announced that they will be serving up Beyond Meat burritos for the first time in nearly 120 restaurants across Canada, starting Wednesday, February 27th.
For those who don’t know what it is, Beyond Meat is an LA-based company that has been creating mouth watering plant-based meat substitutes since 2009.
Quesada will be using Beyond Meat’s Feisty Crumble beef substitute, adding a spicy kick to their new burrito.
The meat substitute is 100% plant-based, made from pea protein, and is the only soy-free and gluten-free crumble on the market. According to a press release from Quesada, the product has half the saturated fat of ground beef and no cholesterol or antibiotics.
“More of our customers are identifying as flexitarians and requesting plant-based options so we’re thrilled to be Canada’s first Mexican chain to offer the Beyond Meat Burrito,” said Steve Gill, Founder and Chief Recipe Officer, Quesada Burritos and Tacos.
“Beyond Meat’s Feisty Crumbles perfectly replace animal protein with plant protein that’s juicy and satisfying to anyone – no matter their dietary preferences.”
Quesada’s recipe for the new Beyond Meat burrito will feature classic Mexican flavours with the spicy heat of Habanero pepper.
Each burrito can be customized with an array of options including the restaurant’s homemade Mexican slaw, famous guacamole, and freshly-made Mexican salsas.
