Passengers travelling to Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands are in for a long wait this afternoon.
People attempting to reach Swartz Bay terminal from Vancouver are currently experiencing a 4 sailing wait, and the 5 p.m. ferry is already 90% full as of the time of publication.

The 12:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. ferries from Tsawwassen to Nanaimo’s Duke Point terminal are both also full, while the 5:45 p.m. sailing is 79% booked up.
Passengers attempting to reach the Southern Gulf Islands from Vancouver could also expect long waits, as the next 3 sailings are between 94% – 99% full.
While travellers heading to the mainland from Swartz Bay can expect smooth sailing, but the next ferry from Victoria to Salt Spring Island’s Fulford Harbour terminal is also 100% booked.
Sailings from Victoria to the other Southern Gulf Islands, however, have plenty of space remaining, as of the time of publication.
These major wait times have occurred despite BC Ferries adding 89 extra sailings between between Vancouver Island, Vancouver, and the Sunshine Coast in preparation for Easter long weekend.
