Terrible drivers be warned: if you break the rules of the road in Oak Bay you may be subject to the local police department’s surprisingly savage Twitter account.
On Tuesday, Oak Bay Police turned to social media to remind drivers that stop signs are, in fact, placed at intersections to indicate that a vehicle must stop.

“Same driver/Same cop,” reads the Tweet, accompanied by an ‘eye roll’ emoji. “First ticket issued to the driver on Feb 15th for Failing to Stop at Stop Sign at Bowker & Hampshire. Second ticket issued to the same driver…at the same location…for the same offence…this morning.”
The Tweet also includes a dancing gif of the brainless Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz, for obvious reasons.

But this repeat offender isn’t the only driver to feel the heat from the police Twitter account.
Over Easter long weekend, Oak Bay Police say they issued three 90-day DUI driving suspensions.
“Thanks for not hitting any of our loved ones when you decided to save 10 bucks on a cab,” reads the Tweet, which also features a gif from the mega-popular television series, Game of Thrones.

At the end of the day, however, the police’s tongue-in-cheek Tweets of driving infractions are reminders to keep roads safe.
Oak Bay Police say that it’s less about “catching” offenses and more about protecting the community.
Our officers are reporting that drivers seem to be driving a bit faster this morning. 3 tickets just issued in front of GNS. Please slow down. Its not about a ticket…its about the safety of our children. Not sure why people can't simply drive 30 kms/hr in school zones?!? 😫 pic.twitter.com/gjoEHVnkQM
