Police investigate string of suspicious fires set in Victoria and Saanich

Police and fire departments in Victoria and Saanich are investigating a series of fires that have been deemed suspicious.

A total of four fires were started across the two municipalities early Monday morning, prompting police and firefighters to attend the scene.

The first fire was set at a dumpster in the 600-block of Bay Street at 2 a.m. The second broke out at 4:30 a.m. in the 500-block of Chatham Street.

At 5:25 a.m., a third blaze was set in the 400-block of Kingston Ave which slightly damaged a vehicle in its proximity.

The fourth and last one broke out shortly before 5:50 a.m. at Douglas and Alpha Streets in Saanich.

No injuries or significant damages were reported as a result of these fires, and the incidents are currently under investigation.
