Share

Brace yourselves, Victoria.

Along with the rain, southern Vancouver Island is about to get hit with wind gusts ranging from 70 km/h to 90 km/h on Saturday due to an intense front.

These conditions will subside by late afternoon tomorrow in the wake of the front, and are expected to affect Greater Victoria, and Eastern Vancouver Island.

For West Vancouver Island, southeast winds are expected to rapidly rise to 80 km/h gusting to 100 on Saturday morning. They will then veer to the southwest and gradually subside in the afternoon.

Northern Vancouver Island is in for 90 km/h to 110 km/h wind gusts due to the intense front.

In each case, Environment Canada advises individuals to be aware of damage caused to buildings, and loose objects tossed by the wind that may cause injuries.
