Brentwood Bay murder victim has been identified

One person was killed and two others seriously injured in a violent struggle at a Brentwood Bay home on Saturday.

Suspect Alan Charles Chapman from Nanaimo has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Emily Caruana.

Police have not officially released the motive for the murder, nor have they revealed Caruana’s cause of death.

Chapman is currently in custody and is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, May 15th.

Central Saanich Police officers attended the scene of the crime in the 7200-block of Meadowlark Lane at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11th.

Upon arrival, officers immediately found signs of a violent struggle inside the home and located three victims, including the deceased individual.

According to Central Saanich Police Chief Cst. Les Sylven, the attack was not random.

Unconfirmed sources tell Victoria Buzz that two males were stabbed, in addition to Caruana. The suspect fled in a white vehicle and was later arrested on the Trans Canada Highway.

A 4-year-old child was found safe in bed inside the home.

Central Saanich Police ask that anyone with information about this incident who has not talked to investigators reach out to the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit at 250-380-6200.
