National CBC comedy contest winner is hosting a show in Victoria tomorrow

Give it up for former Victoria Buzz staff writer and CBC Comedy NEXT UP winner, Alistair Ogden!

The “awkward young man with good jokes” is making his way back to the island to host ‘Comedypants’ – a stand-up show featuring a mix of local talent, touring professional comedians, and musical guests.

Ogden began his comedy career in Victoria as a co-founder of the UVic Lampoon – a comedy publication that also hosts stand-up events for comics in Victoria – and the author of several humorous Victoria Buzz articles.

In March 2019, he won CBC Comedy’s Next Up Competition, earning himself a spot at the Halifax Comedy Festival ahead of over 400 competitors. His performance at the festival’s Gala of Laughs Finale will be televised on CBC this fall.

His event, Comedypants, usually sells out to crowds in Vancouver and is sure to wow audiences on the island on Friday.

The Victoria edition of the event will feature local comedian and CBC NEXT UP finalist Rahat Saini, comedians Sunee Dhaliwal, Chelsea Lou, Mikey Dubs, Shane Priestley, and Evan Mumford, as well as two talented local musicians, Cormac O’Brien and Kiaran McMillan.

Grab your tickets while they last!
