West Shore RCMP arrested three men after they were seen carving a swastika into the pavement.
On Thursday, May 30th at around 8:20 p.m., a member of the public called police after they witnessed three men using a cement saw to carve the pavement at the lagoon on Ocean Blvd in Colwood.
When police arrived on site, the men were still carving away, and upon closer inspection, officers determined that they were carving a swastika onto the road.
The men were then arrested and charged with Mischief under $5,000. Police believe that alcohol was a factor in this incident as all three had been drinking.
“After being informed of the seriousness of the crime, the suspects told the officers they realized the error of their ways and apologized for the damage they caused,” says West Shore RCMP media spokesperson Cst. Saggar.
They have since been released from custody on a Promise to Appear in court.
