Saanich police release photos of armed robberies at two 7-Eleven stores (PHOTOS)

Saanich police are investigating two dramatic cases of armed robbery that occurred in the region over the weekend.

The first robbery took place on early Saturday morning, and the second occurred early Sunday morning.

At approximately 5:15 a.m. Saturday morning, a man entered the 7-11 located at 10 Burnside Road W and pulled a gun on a store employee, demanding money.

The staff member then handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes, and the man fled the convenience store heading west on Burnside Road.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male who is approximately 40-years-old. At the time he was wearing a black leather jacket with a hoodie underneath, dark pants, dark shoes, and sunglasses.

The second armed robbery also took place on Sunday morning at another 7-11 in the area.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., two suspects, a man and a woman, entered the convenience store at 3775 Carey Road and one of them drew a firearm. The pair then threaten the two store employees behind the counter and demanded money from them.

Once the suspects had received cash and cigarettes, they fled the store on foot down Harriet Road towards the Galloping Goose trail.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian between the ages of 25-30. He is approximately 5’8” tall and has a skinny build.

The female suspect is described as tall and skinny, standing approximately 6’0” to 6’3”. At the time she was wearing a black jacket with a D/C logo on the front and a bandana that covered her face.

Saanich Police say that while both stores have been examined by the department’s Forensic Identification team, no suspects have been identified yet. Multiple detectives have been assigned to the cases, and police say that they have “not ruled out” that the two robberies may be connected.

Fortunately, none of the store employees were physically harmed during the armed robberies.
