Specialized equipment stolen from Nanaimo start-up microbrewery

The owners of Nanaimo’s newest microbrewery were shocked and saddened to find that specialized equipment had been stolen from their establishment overnight.

Cliffside Brewing Company located at 11 Cliff St was broken into overnight on Thursday, May 2nd, by thieves who pried open the side door of the business and left it wide open.

According to owner Jack Eubank, they then proceeded to steal specialized brewing equipment, power tools, and the video surveillance camera from the business.

This really hurts and will definitely set us back,” said Eubank after surveying the damage to his business.

“Before the break in we were about four months from opening. The tools are replaceable but the equipment taken is designed specifically for brewing. Some of it hasn’t even been used yet. The brewing machine alone is worth $6500.”

Some of their power tools were recovered in downtown Nanaimo a few days after the break-in, however the valuable brewing equipment has still not been found.

If anyone has information on these stolen items or on who is responsible for the Break and Enter, call the Nanaimo RCMP 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
