International personal care brand, Dove, is hosting a one-off photoshoot in Victoria, and every woman and non-binary individual is invited to participate.

Launched in 2004, Dove’s ‘Real Beauty’ campaign aims to showcase natural physical beauty in an effort to instil women with a sense of self confidence in a world dominated by impossible beauty standards.

The next iteration of this campaign hopes to create a social media space in which women feel represented in the world of media and advertising.

On Saturday, May 11th, Dove will be partnering with Walmart to bring Victoria their #ShowUs campaign, which aims to showcase women as they truly are, “breaking beauty stereotypes and putting women in charge of how they want to be portrayed.”

In collaboration with Getty Images and Girl gaze, this campaign will create the first publicly accessible photo library created to shatter beauty stereotypes around the world.

Shoppers at Uptown’s Walmart Supercentre will be invited to have their photo taken by a professional photographer in front of a beautiful backdrop. Moreover, for every photo taken, Dove will donate $1 to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Through the creation of this photo library, Dove hopes to encourage media and advertisers to use more inclusive imagery of women in their posts.

So, Victoria: Are you ready for your close up?
