The kitten was then picked up by Victoria Animal Control Services and taken to the vet.

In a social media post, animal control stated that the kitten is “very sweet” and is currently receiving veterinary care.

A subsequent update states that while its condition is stable, there are still some major health concerns due to which she will be spending the night at the vet’s.

“We are hopeful she will make a full recovery but she is not out of the woods yet. She is currently on a hold status and is not available for adoption,” they posted after dozens of people inquired about adopting the adorable animal.

No surveillance footage is available to determine who left the kitten in the garbage can.

Animal Control asks that anyone with information about this incident contact them at 250-414-0233.
