Though the location may be a secret, there should be no surprise in what your all-white outfit should include for the 7th annual Dîner en Blanc happening this month!
The infamous event takes place on Saturday, June 22nd this year and as always, it promises to be an elaborate and beautiful soiree – so your outfit should be turning heads, too!
The concept of Dîner en Blanc originated in France, and if you’re unfamiliar with its premise, it’s a dinner party that takes place at a different location around town every year – a location that is disclosed to participants at the last minute.
One of the most compelling and fun aspects of the event – aside from its mysterious whereabouts, of course – is that to attend, it is required that all guests must wear an all-white outfit. No off-white, cream, or ivory shades allowed!
Though Victoria’s edition of the event is on the horizon, there’s still time to choose the perfect outfit – and Mayfair Shopping Centre is there to help!
Not only are they giving away a $100 Mayfair gift card, their resident stylist Jodi Bryans has shared some tips on selecting your Dîner en Blanc ensemble – check them out below:
1. First and foremost, have fun with your outfit
You can go more fashion-forward by wearing some of the latest trends, or re-purpose something you’ve had hiding in the back of your closet, or go more costume-y with your look. Nothing is off limits, as long as it’s all in white.
2. Shoe selection is so important!
When it comes to enjoying the event to the fullest, you need to be comfortable. Luckily, single strap block heels (in any height) are a huge trend in footwear this summer, which makes this more comfortable style easy to find.
Jodi suggests a cute single-strap block heel shoe with a strap around the ankle (for extra support). You’ll be on trend, as well as comfortable and ready to walk on grass or any uneven ground!
3. Wide leg trousers are the rage this year – for men and women!
If you wore a dress last year, or this is the first time you will be attending this event, why not try out an elegant linen, high-rise, wide-leg pant? This pant style helps elongate the leg and you will look effortlessly chic. Find these kind of pants at Talbots or similar styles at Aritzia!
4. Take your look to the next level by wearing a full suit
Men or women – a suit is always a good idea! For ladies, pairing a suit jacket with a pair of shorts or pants is a great way to make a statement – you can also take it further by mixing in some menswear pieces, like a skinny tie with the top and wearing a men’s watch with a couple of bangles!

5. Going for more simplicity?
If so, the slip dress has made quite the comeback this year! They are light as air and incredibly comfortable to wear – look for one with beading or lace detailing. Pair with a more structured jacket, or keep with the light as air theme by adding a long flowing over-piece.
6. Romantic princess dresses are everywhere right now
Meghan Markle had some great fashion moments this last year, inspiring so many of the dresses you are seeing in stores now. With their twirl-worthy hemlines, structured flattering fabrics, lace details, and sometimes even a puffy sleeve, you will definitely have fun dancing the night away.
7. There is a strong Boho-chic vibe this summer
From off the shoulder dresses, bell sleeves, and crochet details, this is one of stylist Jodi Bryan’s favourite looks! A long flowing white dress with all of these details will have you feeling confident and comfortable at Dîner en Blanc, because this is the perfect look with a pair of flats – throw on a fresh flower crown to take the look even further. This is the ideal event to go big with your accessories.
