Police seek suspect who sexually assaulted two women in Nanaimo

Nanaimo RCMP are seeking public assistance in their search for a suspect who sexually assaulted two different women within a ten minute time frame.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27th, two separate women had their buttocks grabbed while walking along Bowen Road.

Both provided almost identical descriptions of the suspect and the two incidents occurred within 10 minutes of each other, leading police to believe that both crimes were carried out by the same individual.

In the first incident, a 21-year-old woman was walking through the crosswalk at the intersection of Bowen Road at Dufferin Crescent when the suspect approached on foot, grabbed her buttocks, and then ran off northbound along Bowen Road.

Ten minutes later, a 32-year-old woman pushing a baby in a stroller was walking past the Husky Station near Meredith Road at Bowen Road when the man walked by, grabbed her buttocks, then left the area running northbound along Bowen Road.

The suspect is described as of either Indigenous or Spanish descent, standing approximately 5’6″, has a slim build, short hair, and brown eyes.

At the time of the incident he was wearing brown or khaki pants, a light coloured shirt, and was carrying a black packsack with a diamond on it.
