If you’re looking for a fun and free activity to check out this weekend, head down to Cecelia Ravine Park for refreshments and games at the unveiling of Victoria’s newest playground!

On Saturday June 8th, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., the community is invited to join Mayor Lisa Helps and members of the Council to explore the newly expanded Cecelia Ravine park area.

Improvements include a larger park green space, a more accessible playground, an upgraded outdoor fitness area, a parking lot, public washrooms, and an expanded multi-use pathway for pedestrians and cyclists.

Besides being widened, the pathway has also been updated to better connect the Burnside-Gorge neighbourhood to the Galloping Goose Trail.

While the grand opening ceremonies take place, visitors who stop by the park can also pick up a free hot dog and refreshments from city staff beside the newly updated playground.

For those unfamiliar with the area, Cecelia Ravine Park is a migratory bird habitat that is located between Burnside Road and the Selkirk Trestle that also houses the Burnside Gorge Community Centre.

On top of the new expansion, the park includes spaces for a range of outdoor activities, like a basketball court, a bike skills park, walking trails, and ravines.
