A new fitness studio on Yates Street has been creating quite a buzz after opening for business this past weekend.

Annex Fitness, located in the heart of downtown Victoria, occupies the former A&B Sound store space at 645 Yates Street.

Their new 6,000 sq. ft. studio offers the ultimate fitness trifecta of spin, barre, and strength classes led by a small army of dedicated trainers.

“I wanted to bring a new approach to personalized fitness to Victoria. We’re a studio with three disciplines to suit whatever someone needs on any given day,” said owner Morgan Jones.

“I strongly believe in this vision that is focused on a full-body, multi-disciplinary approach. Every body and everybody is different. We choose to celebrate that and give people more ways to move theirs.”

All three disciplines are offered 7 days a week, with early morning and evening classes on weekdays. Since opening on Sunday November 24th, their classes for the next 7 days have been fully booked.

But wait, there’s more!

It’s not difficult to see why, as the facility at Annex exceeds the standard for fitness studios, offering patrons free coffee after early morning classes and the option to have smoothies from local juice bar, Jusu, delivered to them.

Their bathrooms are equipped with shower stalls that come fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and moisturizer from Tofino Soap Co., so that gym-goers can head straight to work or other commitments after their workout.

“It was important for me to partner and support local businesses and be present in the community we operate in,” said Jones.

Morgan Jones is a local Victorian and says the creation of Annex was driven by her brother-in-law Dylan Jones who died of cancer at age 27.

In his memory, Annex has established a year-long partnership with the BC Cancer Agency through the Patient Comfort Fund.

To support them, the studio will be hosting a ‘Fight Club’ class each week by minimum donation of $10, with all proceeds going to the BC Cancer Agency.

Memberships at Annex Fitness start at their $69 Intro pass which gives patrons unlimited access to any class they wish to attend for three weeks.

You can also choose to buy drop-ins, all access passes, passes for just one of the disciplines, or mix and match – they’ve got a wide variety of options.

While walk-ins are accepted, the studio encourages patrons to book ahead online as their schedule tends to fill up quite quickly.

Which class do you want to try first?
