During the early morning hours on April 21, 2015, Saanich Police Department and Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at a residence on the 4900 block of Cordova Bay Road in Saanich, BC. Saanich Fire Department extinguished a fire inside the residence.
Two people were found deceased inside the home. The Saanich Fire Department, Saanich Police Department in conjunction with the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, and the BC Coroners Service, continue to investigate the cause of the fire and causes of death.
Names of the deceased have not been released pending notification of the Next of Kin. No further information relating to the gender or age of the two deceased will be shared at this time.

The fire was reported at 3:27 a.m. at 4904 Cordova Bay Rd.
A neighbour said a reclusive couple live in the home with a dog. She saw firefighters rescue a black dog but no one else.
One body was removed from the home and taken to a B.C. Coroners Service vehicle around 10:42 a.m.
Police will not share the names, gender or age of the deceased, pending notification to family.
Several neighbours saw black smoke pouring from the home but no flames.
Upon arriving at the home, Saanich firefighters found smoke coming from the west side of the home, said Saanich Fire Battalion Chief Randy Law.
“Firefighters fought the fire from the inside until the fire was controlled enough to conduct a search,” Law said.
