The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority announced today a potential new tenant for the Steamship Terminal. Riverside Marine, is a newly created BC company, and part of a leading marine operator in Australia. With 90 years of expertise in marine tourism, transportation and services it is proposing to operate a marine transportation passenger service between downtown Victoria and Vancouver.
A CHEK news survey asking readers “Would you use a passenger ferry service from Victoria to Vancouver” had as of lunchtime 82% YES and 18% NO. While responses to our Victoria Buzz Facebook post were also largely in favor of the proposal.
Back in the early 1990’s Royal Sealink Express, ran a Victoria – Vancouver passenger route, but quickly folded with operators losing millions. The catamarans in use at the time, were criticized for causing seasickness.
