Are you a registered voter and ride on B.C. Transit? Show your Elections Canada Voter Registration Card on Monday, October 19 and B.C Transit will let you ride for free.
The Victoria Regional Transit Commission says they are proud to promote increased voter turnout and encourage ridership on BC Transit.
“Show your voter’s card as a ticket to ride on transit,” said Susan Brice, Chair of the Victoria Regional Transit Commission.
“There is no record of this practice having been offered previously in Greater Victoria,” she said Tuesday.
Staff calculated what the lost revenue would amount to and sought direction from other commission members before making the decision.
“We have allocated up to $10,000 and staff will report out the change in revenue collected after the event,” Brice said
